RUN TO WIN!

The Bible says to run the race that is set before us.  The Apostle Paul said all runners run to win. One statement is true; You can't win sitting in the bleachers!

Life has many hurdles that hinder others from running well or even coming out of the blocks.  They watch as a spectator or "from the locker room" hearing the cheers for the other runners.

                                                  IT'S NOT JUST SHOWING UP!

TO WIN AT ANYTHING IT FIRST REQUIRES:

                                                *Technique
                                                *Strength building
                                                *Flexibility
                                                *Training

Winning the prize, promotion, job, class, degree,  takes an intentional effort and preparation.  The Bible writer says:  "Throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

                                                                YOU CAN WIN!

Make the Connection

This is a great time to connect or make that re connection with God. Check out Luke 2, we see the love of God come to the forefront.  While there is much intentional noise and distraction attempting to turn people from the true reason of the season, God calls and draws us to Himself, through His Holy Spirit and faith in Christ.

I for one have realized and know peace with God, as well as the peace of God.  It then becomes a relationship, not a world religion.  We can thank, praise and worship Him, in song and lifestyle, not only for what He has done but who He is as well!

Keep on truckin' to Luke Chapter twenty-four.  Make that connection or reconnect with God today!

Silly Rabbit. Christmas is for kids!

Today I tuned onto a radio station that will play Christmas music from now to the end of the Holidays. I began to feel the spirit of the season.  I should be wondering, what the grand kids will do the night before Christmas, and how their faces might light up when they see their gifts.

Forget that, my thoughts went back to my own memories. Church  play practices and enjoying Christmas shopping.  When I think of Christmas memories, I  head back to when memory begins and work my way this way.  I have good emotional or inward feelings that are very real when those old Christmas standards begin to play on the radio.

Bing Crosby, johnny vibrato Mathis, Andy Williams and the Osmond Bros.  Songs by Nat King Cole, Dean Martin etc on one CD puts me instantly back in my childhood home . (I wouldn't buy these guys music any other time but Christmas).

Television was a big event during the holidays. There were the commercials like; Santa riding on a Norelco electric razor over snowy hills (Poorly done most likely).  Christmas T.V. specials were just that, special.  Today the celebrities are a dime a dozen while on a float they lip sync to their hit on a Disney phoney baloney  X mass parade.

The presents were great.  My mom went through Christmas heck, trying to find just the right size of long Johns (?) or shirt and a box to wrap them up.  Most often there were a ton of gifts under the tree; a great game or even T.V action figures, once it was a T.V.  One year I received a James Bond attache case complete with a luger inside and wire shoulder stock and bullets that shot out of the case.  Most of us grew up wanting to be shooters but only at the bad guys!  One year I got a couple of six shooters and a cowboy hat to fight the bad Indians until I found out we were the bad guys, that pushed, allowed, forced them to live in the picturesque rocks of our nation. Talk about a white Christmas!

Thanks Bob Hope and mom for the memories.

Ho Ho Ho, I think I'll take a sleigh ride to Boca Rotan  this season.

Amazed

There were occasion Christ was amazed by the faith of some people he met.  Some not even of the Children of Israel."

In the book of Mark He had done many great miracles and taught the crowds.  They were amazed at His power and authority.  In Mark six they had little faith.  He could do only a few miracles. They were even offended by the message.

It says He was amazed by their unbelief. Amazed by the faith of some. Amazed by the lack of it in others.

With what group, do you and I stand ?

Christmas Stocking Stuffers #1.

We often give presents that end up at the bottom of a pile in the closet.  How many times we have searched in; store after store, aisle after aisle, hour after hour, to see the item broken after minutes of opening.

Toys and video games will be given.  Why don't we also give those gifts that are eternal as well. We may find them less costly but more valuable.

Bibles, commentaries, books, clothes, music, along with those toys and electronics can make for enrichment and fun on that special day.  It could be an added blessing to (something not on) the list of;  "What I want for Christmas."

We can plan to give the stocking stuffers and gifts that keep on giving throughout Christmas vacation and the following year.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

                                                                                                              Tim.

Love God Love Others! All Over The World

A few People around the world are reading this.  I think that is awesome.  We have an opportunity to speak peacefully and in unity.

The internet is a dangerous yet amazing venue for getting on board the peace train.  Peace not war, just communicating about personal interest and differences in personality.

It does not matter where in the world you are.  You are my neighbor!

God loves you and so do I.  Peace!

What Joy

Even though my car had to go into the shop for repairs, what a great week it has been.
Though some expensive medicine had to be refilled, what a great week it has been.

The joy of the Lord is my strength!

Praying for Charleston and your town.

Praying for peace, strength and reconciliation following yet another violent action, after the fact.  Today we also pray proactive before any future tragic actions happen in our cities!

Tell many of the love of God, praying the Holy Spirit spreads the love of Christ, replacing this hate, while receiving  a new heart, being born again and live a lifestyle of worship to God.

Living Sacrifices to God

12 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Serve God with Spiritual Gifts

For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

Behave Like a Christian

Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. 10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; 11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; 13 distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.
17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,”[a] says the Lord. 20 Therefore
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
If he is thirsty, give him a drink;
For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.”[b]
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Living and Powerful!

Ever thought you were doing life alone?  Then some stranger says or even posts something empowered by God's Spirit and lifts your head.  Many times you are not only turned around but so touched with the comfort of God that you also comfort others in their trials.

Read His word then share it.  It has;  Authority, power and a great message!

Church Matters

I usually wait until I arrive home after church to talk about it.  I'm talking about it today on the internet!

Many say the church began on the day of Pentecost.  Initiated by the arrival of the Holy Spirit on believers accompanied by thousands of souls being added by the Lord to the Church.

Hey Three ideas:
               1. Who is the Church?
We know it is not the bricks and steeple.  (though I'll continue to call the building a church).
Rather it is those who have believed and placed their faith in the Son of God!
                2.  We have a Mission!
Jesus said:  "Go there fore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, of the Holy Spirit.  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you."
                3.   We have a destiny.
Peter wrote: "To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled and that fades not away, reserved in heaven for YOU."

Colossians 1:18 says "He is the head of the body, the Church."

Are you a part of that Church?

Armor of God!

Notice Paul said to put on the whole (complete, full) armor.  With all of the methods, schemes and scams of our spiritual enemy, you and I can not put on part of it.

We have been given armor for our lives and I believe ministry to believers and our communities God has placed us in.

Armor:
Truth
Righteousness
Peace
Faith
Salvation
Sword of the Spirit/Word
Prayer.
Paul also said in another letter to arm yourselves with the mind of Christ.

Now let us go and push back the gates of hell!

Pray without ceasing.

                                                                        Let Us Pray!

So what d'ya think?

God is in Control!

In some quiet time I read about Moses.. I pulled out a book and read some there. Both spoke of:

The birth of Moses where you see God is in control
The Calling of Moses where you see God is in control.

Wilderness to Green Pastures

Reading in Mark chapter eight and starting at verse one.  There are two words and ideas.

1.  Compassion: to feel sympathy towards someones pain or sorrow.  Jesus said, having compassion, those that had been listening to Him for days now, would be hungry and would faint if sent home.  He desired to feed them.  Believers today,  can show compassion as well.

2.  Wilderness;  They were away from town and all of the fast food spots. they were in a wilderness.  We like to talk mostly about our mountain top experience.  We leave gaps and refuse to share our wilderness times.

God can provide in our times of wilderness, which might consist of ;  doubt, sin, distraction, pride, finances etc. Jesus has compassion on you, where ever you might be.

Will you allow Him to meet you in your wilderness?  You will find Him compassionate.

You might have to change some methods.
