Hey Brother!

Jesus had been teaching and healing.  At one point He told them to get a boat ready because of the crowds by the shore. Some were there to honor God, while others were sticking around to catch Him in a misquote.
Many knew it was lunch time and they were hoping fish would jump ashore as a result of one of His miracles. Those were out to get what they could get.  When that didn't happen they might have said "You call yourselves Christians." (actually, that title came years later).

Now in the house, surrounded by more company than I care to entertain, He may have been teaching while having coffee. There were so many demands, He couldn't eat.  His family said;  "He's crazy , He's beside himself. Let's go bring the poor guy home and do an intervention."  "Jesus your mom and brothers are outside looking for you!"

Please notice, He didn't say that the ones in the room were His mother and brothers.  Because they were not.  Also not everybody in the church house is part of the family,  Jesus looked around at those in the house and said; These that do the will of my Father are my mother and my brothers.

It is not just those that show up today. It is the ones that have a relationship with Him.  Spiritual family of course, outweighs the natural family. I can remember those Christians that called each other; "Brother" or "Sister."  They did and,  could, because they had the same Heavenly Father!

He was not dissing the roles of the earthly family but announcing the family of God.  Paul wrote;  "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God."  Wow God brings us into His family as His Children.

"We have peace with God through faith in Christ Jesus our Lord."  I am trusting in Jesus Christ and that, as my only hope to spend eternity with God.

"And if children, then heirs-heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ....."  I am a part of the family of God!

Are you? You can be.  Call to Him in prayer and repenting and following Jesus the rest of your days.  You still are able to go about your occupation and family lives.

"Who's that?"  "That's brother Jim." the truck driver
"Who's that?"  "That's brother John. He's a policeman
"Who's that?"  "That's sister Monique" store manager
"That's a big family".   "Maybe a number, no man can number."
